It’s no secret that within the charity sector, organisations are heavily reliant on the support and generosity of donors and fundraisers as a primary source of funding their services. And 2wish is no different. In an ever-changing sector, we are constantly looking for new ways to adapt and grow ensuring that we can continue to provide support to those affected by the sudden death of a child or young person. As a result of this evolution, we are proud to announce the launch of our Business Ambassador Programme, bringing together the wisdom and experience from a variety of different industries, with one common goal…helping others!
The programme will officially launch at our Meet the Neighbours Networking Event, which sees businesses local to 2wish HQ coming together to form alliances and build relationships. This will help them to not only expand their professional network but, also to identify areas in which they can provide support for the continued expansion of 2wish within Wales and the bordering counties with England.
We recently caught up with our founding business ambassadors, Jenine Gill or Little Inspirations Day Nursery, and Rebecca Rees of JNP Legal to find out exactly what being a business ambassador means to them.
Little Inspirations is a childcare provider with its roots firmly planted within the community of the borough of Rhondda Cynon Taff. For over 20 years, they have been providing award-winning childcare within their 9 day nursery centres across the region.
Manager Director and Founder, Jenine Gill, has been a friend of 2wish for many years, sharing…
“I have been part of the charity since it was an idea. I cared for the Burke family for nearly five years, including George. This connection has helped me and my staff to accept and move on with our own grief. I understand the 2wish vision and values, and I have seen how the support can make a difference to families and communities who lose a child or young person.”
It’s clear to see from the outset, why being a part of our Business Ambassador Programme is so important to Jenine, and we’re delighted to have her on board as a founding member. When asked for her reasoning behind, she told us…
Aside from her obvious passion for working with 2wish, Jenine brings with her, over 20 years of experience in the childcare industry, something we are extremely grateful for. Not only does she possess an invaluable number of skills but, also a unique level of compassion for the work that we do.
“I looking forward to using my current skills to give back, and I also want to gain new skills. This will enhance the person I am, not just the business person people think I am. I am looking forward to meeting new people and extending my knowledge. I am also looking forward to the fun I know we will have and preparing myself for any challenges that are thrown at me.”
The second of our co-founding members of the Business Ambassador Programme is Rebecca Rees, a director and solicitor at JNP Legal. Established in1981, they take great pride in their commitment to providing exceptional legal services to clients throughout South Wales. With offices conveniently located in Merthyr Tydfil, Nelson, Llanishen, and Pontyclun, they have built a strong presence in the community and have become a trusted resource for individuals and businesses alike.
When asked about the importance of joining the Business Ambassador Programme, Rebecca said…
“We have a deeply engrained commitment to supporting charities, community groups and worthwhile causes, which aligns perfectly with our ethos at JNP Legal…When advising our clients, particularly in cases involving inquests, medical negligence, or serious accident claims, we have witnessed first-hand the profound impact of 2wish’s support services.
Understanding the immense challenges faced by families grappling with sudden bereavement, we frequently refer clients to 2wish, knowing that their compassionate assistance, can provide invaluable comfort and guidance during such difficult times.”
This fundamental commitment to supporting charity is also what led Rebecca to come on board as a business ambassador. She said…
When asked about what she was most looking forward to about being a business ambassador, Rebecca told us…
“What I’m looking forward to most…is the opportunity to work alongside Rhian and her wonderful team…I am eager to contribute to her vision of providing crucial assistance to those in need.
…Being involved with 2wish allows me to engage with the local community on a deeply meaningful level. Having watched the charity grow and evolve over the last decade or so, I’ve witnessed first-hand the profound impact it has had on the lives of families in our area. As a Business Ambassador, I am excited to play a role in furthering this impact and helping to ensure that 2wish continues to thrive and expand its reach, providing invaluable support to even more families during their darkest hours.”
We’re so grateful to Jenine and Rebecca for being our founding members of the Business Ambassador Programme. We’re excited to see what the future holds for 2wish, and our ever-growing network of supporters. We couldn’t do it without you.
Finally, we asked Jenine and Rebecca why they think others should support 2wish and this is what they had to say…
“2wish is a service that no one wants but people sadly need. Being part of a charity has allowed me to grow as a human being. I have found hope among sadness. I have gained skills with bereavement, grief and people’s well-being. These skills have been used time and time again in my professional role as a leader. Being part of 2wish gives me a sense of belonging and purpose and reminds me to live in the moment. I have made lifetime friends, developed valuable emotional tools, and gained confidence in my abilities as a person (as well as some physical activities).” – Jenine Gill, Little Inspirations.
“By supporting 2wish, individuals can directly contribute to honouring the memory of George and Paul while also helping to provide essential assistance to other parents navigating the profound grief and challenges of sudden bereavement. Support provided ensures that families facing similar circumstances receive the care, understanding, and resources they desperately need during their darkest moments.” – Rebecca Rees, JNP Legal.
