Frequently Asked Questions

Who does 2wish support?

2wish support anyone affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under. We support immediate family, extended family, friends, colleagues, professionals, witnesses and historic death.

We are governed by the Charity Commission, which means we have to abide by strict criteria. The criteria for 2wish Cymry in Wales states that the person who has died must have been Welsh, resided in Wales or died in Wales. For 2wish in England, the criteria currently enables us to support if the person who has died was born in, resided in or died in on of the following counties…

  • Cheshire
  • Shropshire
  • Worcestershire
  • Gloucestershire
  • Herefordshire
  • Avon and Somerset

If you are in need of support and want to contact us, please call on 01443 853125 or email us at support@2wish.org.uk

What support do you offer?

We offer a range of support from our memory boxes and immediate support whereby we contact families within 24-48 hours of receiving the referral. We offer Counselling, Play Therapy and Complementary Therapy, as well as Focus Support Groups, residential weekends and monthly events. We understand that every family is different, and we strive to ensure we are able to provide support that is tailored for the individual needs of each family unit.

Who can refer into your service?

We work closely with every hospital and police force in Wales, and are building these close relationships with our serviceable counties in England. Most of our referrals come from them. However, we also welcome referrals from professionals in any other field, such as GPs, Funeral Directors, Social Workers, Health Visitors and Mental Health Teams.

Additionally, we welcome self referrals from those who have been directly affected and would like support, as well as referrals from friends and family of those who needs support. To make a referral on behalf of someone else, we just need to know that the person being referred has given their verbal consent for the referral to be made. You can make a referral via phone on 01443 853125 or via email support@2wish.org.uk

What do you mean when you say you ‘support professionals’?

2wish was established in 2012 to provide bereavement support for families who have suddenly and traumatically lost a child or young person aged 25 years and under.

This service has now been extended to provide support for professionals from any field, that have been affected by the sudden death of a child or young person aged 25 years and under. We are able to offer support in a number of ways, all of which are confidential and arranged by 2wish. We strive to work with professionals to ensure that we can offer support in a way that fits with work commitments and daily life.

Where do you provide your services?

2wish are a Wales-wide charity, which means we cover all of Wales. Our head office is in Llantrisant, South Wales, but we have staff working in West and North Wales too, which means that no matter where you live in Wales, we will be able to support you. We have expanded our support into England, currently in the following counties…

  • Cheshire
  • Shropshire
  • Worcestershire
  • Gloucestershire
  • Herefordshire
  • Avon and Somerset

We aim to further expand our support services in a phased approach, covering more and more of England with each phase. So if you live in an area that we currently cannot support, this may not always be the case.

We work alongside a bank of counsellors and therapists who are based in all of our serviceable areas so we can ensure that any professional support is local and easy for you to access.

How do I know what events and activities are going on for bereaved families?

We have a Facebook Families page, which is a closed group for bereaved family members only. The group is a peer support network, but is also where we post all of our events and services, so families can pick and choose what, if any, service or event they would like to sign up to. If you are a bereaved family member and would like to keep up to date with what is going on, then please join us by searching ‘2wish—FAMILIES’ on Facebook.
